Shetland Secondary Boccia Competition 2023

Shetland Secondary School Boccia Competition was held on Monday the 30th of January at Brae High School. Fourteen pupils from Anderson High School, Aith JHS, and Baltasound JHS competed for a chance to be selected for the Scottish National Secondary School Competition in Stirling.

The day commenced with the group stages, followed by a highly competitive semi-final.

The third place playoff (pictured above) was between Josh Murie (Aith JHS) and Jamie Davies (Baltasound JHS). Josh won the first End by 2 points, but it was Jamie who clinched the game by winning the next three Ends. The final score was 6-2 to Jamie.

The final was between two Anderson High School pupils. A back and forth between the pupils had the score sitting 3-2 in the third End with all to play for. The last End was clinched by the winner, who threw her last ball to tactically knock her opponents ball out of the scoring zone. The final score was 4-2.

Ability Shetland would like to thank Brae High School for hosting the event and all the volunteers.
