Successful Bid to the Rural and Island Communities Ideas into Action Fund

This money will be used to provide a fortnightly club for children with additional support needs from the Wastside of Shetland.  Funds will be put towards staffing, resources and activities for the children but will also provide a warm space for parents to meet up whilst their children are being cared for, creating peer support opportunities to each other over a hot cuppa and biscuit.  Having the club based in the Wastside makes it accessible for families from all across that area of Shetland and where many families can feel isolated due to barriers of transport and lack of specific childcare / social opportunities.  We are lucky to have a great team of staff and volunteers in the area who provide a very high level of care to the children they support so this money also supports a local workforce, bringing employment and volunteering opportunities to the westside community.
